Inspiration for Project 1

I have always been interested in and intrigued by the idea of dreams. Always having very vivid dreams myself, I have always wanted to try to re-create my dreams through art. Therefore, I greatly admire those artists who are able to accomplish this task by creating dream-like paintings, drawings, or other forms of art. Surrealists, for example, studied the Freudian Psychology and theories of dreams, and attempted to create "hand-painted" dreams. Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte both attempted to create 'magic realism', in which they incorporated realistic images into a dream-like setting. They also juxtaposed two or more completely random images that had nothing to do with one another by putting them in a composition together, thus creating a relationship between the images. For this project, I would like to play off of this idea; juxtapose random images to create a dream-like composition, the goal being to re-create a dream that I may have had in the past.

The image above and the image below are by Magritte:

The images below are both by Salvador Dali:

The last couple of images are two dream photomontages that I randomly came across. The artists are unknown, but I greatly appreciate the dream-like qualities of both of these works:
