Right now I am in the process of creating my Flash animation project. Although I first had trouble trying to figure out the Flash program, having never used it before, I feel I am finally starting to get the hang of it. My goal is to create an animation that is simple, with a simple storyline. I have used simple lines and shape to create my animation. So far I have laid out all of the scenes, and am almost finished creating them. I still have some small changes to make, and I still need to incorporate sound. Overall, though, I feel like it is going very well, and I am liking what I have done so far.

Animation

One of my favorite animations, or favorite animated film, is Finding Nemo. The thing I appreciate the most about this animation is how realistically the animation and images are portrayed. The story primarily takes place underwater, and the artist has created so much movement and color into every detail. The story is that Nemo (a fish) gets taken away by humans, and then Marlin (Nemo's father) with the help of a friend travel a great distance to find Nemo. I feel like the artist of this film creates various sequences that help to illustrate this journey, and each sequence becomes more and more dramatic, until the climax, in which they find Nemo. By various techniques in animation, the artist builds up to the climax by incorporating movement, sound, which in turn creates a highly affective story line and overall beautiful piece.

Continuing with the Web Art Project
purple
orange
greenI am feeling more and more satisfied with the way things are going with the web art project. I am finally at the point where I am linking the different pages I have created together. Again, this project is about color and how color can portray a different mood or emotion. It is my goal that, when people look at the various images to this project, that they will question what mood or emotion a color can portray. Each page that I have will flash back and forth between two different opposing colors, with the intent of creating a different tone. Although this is a personal piece, and I have incorporated my personal opinions, it is wide open for interpretation. Here are more examples of the pages I am putting into this piece (above).

The Web Art Project
red page

yellow pageCurrently we are working on our web art projects. My idea is that I wanted to create a piece based on color. Basically, it is a study of how color can portray different moods. Most of my images are being created on Photoshop. I am using the main colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple...and each color has its own page. I know that different colors mean different things to different people, but this is more about what each of these colors means to me. Here are some examples of what I have so far (above).

Online Web Art
As I was searching online for some web art examples, I came across this website that has very intresting screen savers and web art pieces created by Ezra Johnson. The one I looked at in particular is called "Wrestling with the Blob Beast". Although this piece is simple, I greatly appreciated it for its abstraction, color, and playfullness. If you do not wish to go to the link, I can explain what occurs in this work. The opening scene is a wall, and a monster or creature of some sort sneaks onto the screen from the bottom crack of the wall, and then two hands appear tht begin 'wrestling' with the creature, and then it slips back underneath the wall. The monster is created with a bunch of abstract, colorful, biomorphic shapes, and there is lot of movement to this piece. Below is the link to this web art piece in particular as well as others:

Web Art
Right now, I feel like I do not know a whole lot about web art. However, I think web art is something that people take advantage of, due to the fact that people use the internet everyday, and do not realize that web art is incorporated. Web art is so important because it is a form of communication, and is a way to entice and attract people to a certain company, product, etc. Like state before, I do not have much knowledge on this subject, but as I was looking online, I came across some websites to better help me understand what web art is, and what it entails:

Inspiration for Self-Portrait
It took me awhile to think of ideas for the Self-Portrait assignment, but I think I have finally come up with an idea. I would somehow like to represent the past and the present, which in turn would be showing split personalities. I just recently went through some tough times in the past, and I would like to represent coming out of darkness and going into light; going through a bad time, and coming into the light/future. One side of the portrait will represent darkness, and I will do this by showing darker, colder images. The other side will represent happiness, lightness, and hopefullness, which is a portrayal of a hopeful future. I will incorporate personal images that give me hope, and make me feel better in hard times.
